William Palmer’s first novel, The Good Republic, was published in 1990 and since then he has published more novels and a volume of short stories. A collection of his poems, The Water Steps, was published by Rack Press in 2017 and his first non-fiction book, In Love with Hell: Drink in the Lives and Work of Eleven Writers, was published in 2021. You can also hear him in our podcast, Episode 38, ‘Literary Drinking’.

His stories and poems have appeared in many journals, and have been broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and 4. He has reviewed regularly for the Independent and Literary Review. He lives in South West London.
