Derek Parker started life as a print journalist, then via television pursued a twenty-year career with BBC radio, writing, compiling, presenting innumerable programmes (see BBC Genome) on the arts. He then turned to writing biographies (Byron, Donne, Cellini, Casanova etc.) before retiring. He goes on writing.
