Sarah Perry is a British writer. She was born in Essex, and gained a PhD in Creative Writing & the Gothic from Royal Holloway in 2012. She has written for a number of publications including the Guardian, the Independent and the Spectator. Her debut novel, After Me Comes the Flood, was published in 2014, and won the East Anglian Book of the Year award. Her second novel, The Essex Serpent, was published in 2016. It was shortlisted for the Costa Novel Award and was the British Book Awards Book of the Year 2017. Her third novel, Melmoth, was in October 2018.
