‘A lifelong passion for books and an insatiable curiosity’

‘Harriet and I read about so many pioneering women and it had started to inspire me . . . Harriet had an inquisitive curiosity about the world, and I did too . . . something, aside from our love of books, that we have in common.’

In just over a week our intrepid reader Katy Macmillan-Scott will embark on the first leg of her journey from London to Budapest in the footsteps of Patrick Leigh Fermor, in memory of her dear friend Harriet, and to raise awareness for Bowel Cancer UK.

We’ve been touched by the great generosity of spirit and support shown to Katy by our subscribers and we’re looking forward to sharing dispatches from her trip with you. We’re currently planning a daily feed of literary and travel inspired posts to share with our Facebook friends while Katy is walking (30 April – 20 May) and through our Instagram and Twitter feeds.

Please feel encouraged to share news of Katy’s great literary adventure with bookish friends and relations around the world. To find out more about Katy and her walk, follow the link below to read an interview with Stylist magazine.
