If you’ve ever wandered down London’s Gloucester Road (and which literary bluffer hasn’t?) you might have spotted an unassuming bookshop called Slightly Foxed. The rightly acclaimed bookshop-come-publisher turns turns 10-years-old this month, so they must be doing something right in the face of the relentless onslaught by the behemoths of the online book sellers.
Perhaps it’s because they know a lot about books, or because their quarterly magazine is actually very good. It’s about time you pretended that you’ve always had a subscription.
DO ASK ‘Oh you haven’t heard of Slightly Foxed? It’s like a more sincere version of British McSweeney’s. And better, obviously.’
