Slightly Foxed is collaborating with Lucy Pearson of The Literary Edit and Ease Retreats to run an Instagram giveaway in March 2025 to win a place on this retreat. We are delighted to be able to share the following details about this retreat for our readers’ interest.
Taking place from 6-8 June, escape to the beautiful Welsh coast for a three-day reading retreat designed to help you reconnect with your literary self, broaden your reading horizons, and find inspiration in the rhythm of the sea.
We’ll be staying in a stunning seven-bedroom Victorian beach house, perched above the bay of Tresaith with panoramic sea views, a cosy living room with a wood burner, and stacks of books to get lost in. The front patio is perfect for sipping wine as the sun sets—if we’re lucky, we might even spot dolphins gliding through the bay.
Mornings can be spent wandering the coastal trails or strolling to the nearby waterfall, while afternoons are for reading in cosy nooks or out in the fresh sea air. In the evenings, we’ll gather by the fire or head to the pub down the lane, which boasts some of the best sea views in Wales.
Each guest will also receive a one-to-one bibliotherapy session with me, where we’ll explore any reading challenges or aspirations, helping shape the course of your literary life.
I’ve put together a sea-inspired reading list that captures the pull of the tides, the mystery of the deep, and the untamed beauty of coastal life. Think Cornish classics, seafaring memoirs, and evocative novels shaped by the ever-changing sea.
Before the retreat, I’ll send each guest a book to read ahead of time, which we’ll discuss on our first evening together. It’s a story I think will spark conversation and perfectly reflect the wild, atmospheric essence of coastal literature—filled with adventure, longing, and the sea as an unforgettable character in its own right.
During our Silent Book Club, we’ll all dive into the same short, captivating read—perfect for finishing in one sitting. Each guest will also receive a goody bag with a sea-inspired reading list, setting the tone for our literary escape.
The rest of the books I’ve selected will vary, tailored to your personal interests. If you’ve already read one of yours, no worries—you can swap it out for something else! From windswept classics to modern maritime tales, this collection will immerse you in stories shaped by the shore.
Perched above the bay of Tresaith, this beautiful Victorian beach house is the perfect setting for a cosy, book-filled escape. With sweeping sea views, a crackling wood burner, and reading nooks aplenty, it’s made for slowing down and sinking into stories.
During our retreat, we’ll have the entire house to ourselves—meaning total peace and plenty of space to unwind. This isn’t a hotel; it’s a welcoming seaside home, filled with cosy corners, stacks of books, and the rhythmic sound of waves just outside. The large bay windows and window seats offer the perfect spot to curl up with a book while watching the tide roll in.
Expect long coastal walks, afternoons lost in reading, and evenings watching the sun set from the front patio—wine in hand, with the chance of spotting dolphins in the bay. For the adventurous, a hidden waterfall cascades onto the beach at low tide, and a friendly local pub with panoramic sea views is just down the lane.
With seven stylish bedrooms, shared bathrooms, and a sprawling back garden for alfresco lounging, there’s plenty of space to stretch out, breathe in the salty air, and let the magic of the Welsh coast work its charm.
Your retreat fee covers everything you need for an immersive reading escape.
