‘Sometimes, nostalgic for Paris, I read books about the city in the hope that through them I’ll know again the felt reality of daily life there.’
Greetings from Hoxton Square, where we have been travelling through the archives this week to find a piece to share that will transport us in ways that only books can.
Kristian Doyle’s piece on Julian Green’s Paris in Slightly Foxed Issue 67 does just that, taking us on an imaginative journey around the French capital’s secret stairways, courtyards, alleys and hidden places.
Please find an extract from Kristian’s nostalgic article below, together with a link to read the full piece on the Slightly Foxed website. We do hope that you enjoy it. Further down you’ll find some other autumn reading suggestions to captivate you as the nights draw in.
With best wishes from the SF staff
