‘And so, in those dull, slow days between Christmas and January, I made a New Year’s resolution . . .’
Greetings, dear readers, not from Hoxton Square but from our respective book nooks across the isles, from Edinburgh to Dartmoor. We’ve been off relaxing following the busy Christmas period at Foxed HQ, spending plenty of time with our noses happily in books, much like the charming fox reading an issue of our quarterly in Daniel Macklin’s drawing above.
At this time of year – what Laura Freeman labels as ‘those dull, slow days between Christmas and January’ – one often finds oneself thinking of the year to come and what it might bring. Today, as we mull over our own reading resolutions for 2026, we thought we ought to share Laura’s piece in issue 41, in which she embarks on an ambitious mission to read all of Dickens’s novels over the course of a year.
We hope you’re all feeling well-fed and watered after a happy festive season and we look forward to returning to the office to send out your orders on 5 January.
With best wishes for a very happy New Year from the SF office staff
Isabel, Edie, Rebecca, Ruth & Jennie
