The shortlist for the Slightly Foxed Best First Biography Prize 2014 has been announced.

- Rachel Cooke, Her Brilliant Career: Ten Extraordinary Women of the Fifties (Virago)
- Henry Marsh, Do No Harm: Stories of Life, Death and Brain Surgery (Weidenfeld & Nicolson)
- Rory Muir, Wellington: The Path to Victory (Yale University Press)
- Claudia Renton, Those Wild Wyndhams: Three Sisters at the Heart of Power (HarperCollins)
The judges are Lucy Hughes-Hallett, Jane Ridley and Anthony Sattin. The Prize will be announced at the Biographers’ Club Prize dinner, on Friday 21 November.
