Edgcumbes is an independent family business going back three generations that supplies freshly-roasted coffee and hand-blended loose leaf tea throughout the UK and Europe.
When Frank Edgcumbe-Rendle, a jute and tea trader in Kolkata, returned to the UK in 1981, he sourced some high quality Assam and Kenyan tea leaves to make a delicious everyday brew. He called the blend ‘Rusper’, which is the name of the West Sussex village where he grew up, and the company grew from there.
Edgcumbes is now run by Alice and Christopher Rendle, who travel to growers around the world. Customers can buy coffee, tea, subscriptions and brewing kits online, and visitors to Sussex can enjoy the Roastery Café and Shop, based a few miles from the historic town of Arundel.
