Slightly Foxed Issue 4: From the Editors

Slightly Foxed has now settled comfortably into Clerkenwell. The only drawback of the new office is the spectacular view – we spend far too much time watching the clouds, which at this time of year race over the dome of St Paul’s at a sometimes alarming rate. (If you’d like to come and visit – and don’t mind aged dogs – you’d be most welcome.) We haven’t spotted any Christmas lights going up yet, but it can’t be long.

Speaking of Christmas, we’re delighted to report that Slightly Foxed has received an early present – a ‘Highly Commended’ award for Best New Journal from the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers. We were commended for our simple and innovative design which ‘follows in the best traditions of book publishing . . . a very pleasing and attractive publication, well suited to its audience’. So now you know.

We’re not sure we are especially learned but we hope this issue provides you with plenty of ideas for presents, for yourselves and others, and that you have a very happy and peaceful Christmas.

Finally, those of you who have an idle moment might like to try to identify the author depicted in the linocut by Mark Handley on the back cover. The first person to do so correctly will receive a free annual subscription.
