My local bookshop, worth a visit for its old building large supply and scenery and the village with local shops:

Please can you mention The Oundle Bookshop, Oundle, Northants? The opening hours are slightly shorter – they close at 4 p.m. at the moment – but otherwise it’s as near business as usual as possible. And the staff, who are brilliant, will be very pleased to see you.

  3. Philippa Parker says:

You really should include the excellent David’s Bookshop in Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire. They sell new and secondhand books, music in all forms, stationery, have a cafe and hold events. A true community hub. Have a look at their website – http://www.davids-bookshops.co.uk.

Do you know The Little Bookshop at 16 The High St Cookham, Berkshire SL6 9SJ. Tel 01628 520434. My local but now only online – read @the little bookshop.info

  5. Evert Lamfers says:

May I recommendend Book-ish in Crickhowell, Wales? Owner Emma Corfield organises the Crickhowell literary festival as well. And you haven’t mentioned a Wales bookshop (except may be Boothes in Hay on Wye but I have never figured out whether Hay is in England or in Wales). At any rate Book-ish is an independent bookshop run by an enthusiastic owner. (Book-ish, 18 High Street, Crickhowell, Powys, NP8 1BD; book-ish.co.uk). Kind regards, Evert Lamfers, Nijmegen, NL.

Could you add Edge of the World bookshop, Market Jew Street. Penzance. An Independent bookshop that hosts literary events and greets readers with a smile. Delicious cake shop a few doors up.
